My cousin is either going to thank me or cuss me out after this cook.
As the earlier members of the DSB Meatlist may recall (and Rineco cowboys, too), I made Cuban sandwiches several years ago and sold them pretty quickly when I was still in the early stages of barbecue as a side hustle. Those were made with pork loin slices à la Tampa style; this version with pulled pork is the Miami one, and if you’ve ever eaten at a Tropical Pollo, then this is as close as you’ll get to it.
INGREDIENTS
Pepperidge Farms slider buns
Dub Shack BBQ’s The Ancestors sauce
Fire Dancer BBQ’s Butters and Slims pickles
Sliced deli ham
Sliced Swiss cheese
Leftover pulled pork
STEP ONE. Since everything has been made once (who knew that I can keep leftover pulled pork?), just assemble in order of the ingredients listed above. Don’t forget to add butter to the tops of your bread. Of course, make this recipe your own; notice I went Pepperidge Farm instead of the traditional King’s Hawaiian rolls for sliders mainly because of the ease. Some days, I just feel like being lazy.
STEP TWO. It’s always more fun to cook outside meaning that I threw my sliders on Little Lady at 350 for 35 minutes. Most pellet grills come with apps, so I took advantage of the opportunity to be lazier than usual and used mine to finish these dudes off. Pull, rest, and serve expeditiously!
Thoughts: I could’ve knocked back all twelve sliders, but sharing is caring and I’m here all week. Besides, my family wants something other than barbecue on the nights I cook dinner, but it’s what I do best although the local Mexican restaurant or even the Golden Arches cover a similar fix for them. Will I do this for a tailgate or some potluck? Yeah, but don’t “pan it” like the comedian Cabinet Carl.
Thanks for sticking around this long, and if you do try it out, share on your social media channels among your friends and family. I know I’m cutting it short, so keep doing the following:
Be blessed.
Be safe.
Be good to each other.
Tell everyone that every day is a GREAT day for Dub Shack BBQ!
